Pre & Post Care

Do I need to do anything prior to my Semi Permanent Make Up Appointment?

To ensure the best possible results, it's crucial to follow the Pre-Care instructions provided in your form. If you’ve had surgery or laser therapy on your face, please allow 3-6 months for healing before undergoing any Semi-Permanent Makeup. Refrain from invasive treatments for at least 3-4 weeks prior to your appointment with Emily. Two weeks before your appointment, stop using Retinol, Vitamin A, and avoid tinting or waxing your brows. It's also important to limit sun exposure and avoid sunbeds. One week prior, discontinue the use of Fish Oils. 48 hours before your appointment, and with your GP’s consent, avoid blood-thinning medications. The evening before and on the day of your treatment, please avoid ibuprofen, paracetamol, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks. On the day of your treatment, do not exercise for at least 3 hours before your appointment and refrain from smoking or vaping.

Why do I need to avoid certain things before hand?

All of the factors listed above can affect how the pigment is absorbed into your skin, potentially leading to poor healing and unsatisfactory results. Substances like caffeine, alcohol, certain medications, and fish oils can increase your tendency to bleed, making the treatment more uncomfortable and potentially compromising the outcome. If you’ve recently undergone laser treatment or surgery, it’s essential to allow 3-6 months for your skin to heal and rejuvenate fully to achieve the best results from your treatment. If your skin has had lengthily sun exposure, it may not yield the desired results from the treatment.

What do I need to do post treatment?

Your brows will need 14 days to heal, and following the aftercare instructions is crucial to avoid poor pigment retention or, in the worst case, an infection. Emily will provide you with everything necessary to care for your new brows. The aftercare process includes: No sweating and avoiding makeup or any products on the eyebrow area for 14 days. Keeping your eyebrows dry for the first 10 days. On Day 1, you’ll need to wipe your brows 6 times and apply balm to the brow area 6 times (pads and balm will be provided). Patches must be worn during sleep on the first night to protect your brows from infection and promote healthy healing without lymph buildup. On Day 2, you’ll need to wipe and balm the brows 4 times, and on Day 3, you’ll only need to apply balm morning and night for the next 10 days. Keep your brows dry during this time, using the shower visors included in your aftercare kit. You can still wash your face; it’s recommended to use a flannel or muslin cloth to avoid the brow area. Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds for 2 weeks before and after your treatment, and refrain from exercise that causes sweating, as sweat can break down the pigment.

What will happen if I dont follow these steps?

If you don't follow these steps, you risk poor results and an increased chance of infection. The blades and needles used in your treatment are single-use, and all products are sealed, with surfaces sanitized using medical-grade disinfectant before use. Proper aftercare is essential—don’t waste your investment by neglecting it. If you can’t commit to the aftercare, you may not achieve the desired outcome
